Like an old-fashioned postcard, Oxford is picture perfect. Surrounded by water with Town Creek to the east and the Tred Avon River to the north and west, Oxford’s waterways bustle with the passing of yachts, sailboats, powerboats and its own Oxford-Bellevue Ferry. Author James Michener even penned the novel Chesapeake in this peaceful nautical oasis.

Eat & Drink

Oxford is home to many good restaurants and bars. Some of our family favorites include Latitude 38, Doc’s Sunset Grille, the Oxford Market, and the Scottish Highland Creamery. Fun fact: you can get to the Scottish Highland Creamery by boat or jet ski (the Dave Runner)!

Play

Cam’s cousins are masters when it comes to finding the fun around the Chesapeake! Rent kayaks, go sailing, swimming or fishing. Visit Oxford Town Park for a stunning view of the Tred Avon River. Get some ice cream at Capsized OXMD in St. Michaels and watch the sunset on the beach along the Oxford Strand.

Explore

Visit Easton or take the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry across the river for a short drive to St. Michaels for some shopping and a change of scenery, and visit the Maritime Museum in town. The Harriet Tubman Museum in Cambridge is a must-see, and the BlackWater National Wildlife Refuge is a great place to spot bald eagles. Visit Tilghman Island for water activities and a lighthouse tour cruise.
